 Jahangir Khan

Adjunct Professor Dr. Khan, currently employed by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine of United Kingdom, has been leading and teaching Health Economics course of the MPH Program at James P Grant School of Public Health of BRAC University since 2011. His main research and academic interests comprise healthcare financing; health insurance; economic burden analysis of diseases and health conditions; economic evaluations of health interventions and financial risk protection of Universal Health Coverage.


Dr. Khan was trained in Economics (BSc and MSc) from Stockholm University and was trained for post-graduate research (PhD) in Health Systems Research in Health Economics track at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.


Dr. Khan worked as a Faculty in Health Economics at Karolinska Institutet and was later employed as the Head of Health Economics Unit of icddr,b during 2010-2015. Dr. Khan trained several health economists in Bangladesh and abroad. He published his research in many internationally reputed journals. Dr. Khan was focal point of the first ever healthcare financing strategy of Bangladesh government and contributed to several policy documents for Bangladesh Government and actively participated in several policy discussions, organized by the World Health Organization, the World Bank, GTZ, USAid and so forth.
