When and how long is the academic session for the MPH Programme? Down icon image

This one year programme is initiated the last week of January of a respective year and finishes by the last week of January of the following year. For example, the upcoming programme is scheduled to start in the last week of January 2018 and finish with a Graduation Ceremony in the last week of January 2019.

For the duration of one full year, the MPH Programme is designed to encourage a sequential pursuit of public health competencies and skills through courses upon field based experiential and practical learning.

Is it possible to complete the degree on a part-time basis while working full time? Down icon image

No, this requires full time effort for one year as the classes are scheduled 9am to 5pm from Sunday to Thursday as per the course plan. Moreover, one may be required to work longer hours or during weekends as per the need of the course. However, if anyone is unable to finish the programme within one year due to health reasons, he or she can retake the programme and complete within the years.

Are prospective students required to have an undergraduate degree in health sciences or related fields? Down icon image

Not necessarily, the MPH programme attracts a diverse portfolio of students from all round the world. They range from health and development practitioners, social scientists, government officials, policymakers, physicians, dentists, nurses, managers, and researchers.

Is it mandatory to have a TOEFL or IELTS score for application? Down icon image

No, it is not mandatory. However, a decent TOEFL or IELTS score may increase your chances of getting into the Programme.

Is public health working experience a mandatory requirement for application? Down icon image

No, it is not mandatory. But, the Programme recommends 2 to 3 years of public health working experience.

What are the assessments for MPH admission? Down icon image

National selection for MPH admission includes initial shortlisting of applications, written test on basic linguistic, and analytical competences, and oral communication (viva voice) in structured and unstructured situations.

Are there accommodations for national and international students? Down icon image

The Programme ensures accommodation, food and pick up and drop offs for one year for mainly international students.

Yes, tuition can be paid by 3-6 flexible installments. Specific guidelines are given in the final offer letter.

No, there are no additional/hidden fees. The tuition fee covers support and costs related to learning including all field related costs.

A good number of students from the graduating batches get involved in projects and programmes at BRAC JPGSPH, icddr,b and BRAC International given that they fulfill the requirements. In addition, the Programme facilitates job placements at other leading international NGOs, donor organizations and UN organizations.

At present there are two merit and need based scholarship opportunities: WHO TDR scholarship and BRAC University scholarship available.

The MPH Programme is widely recognized at national, regional and international level. The degree is internationally accepted by leading universities including North-American and European universities. For example, BRAC JPGSPH graduates have received full funded doctoral study opportunities at Harvard T. H Chan School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
