Short Biography

Ms. Sharmin is a Research Assistant at JPGSPH and she pursued her MPH degree from James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University in the year of 2022 with a renowned Global Health Research Unit (GHRU) scholarship. Recently one of her abstracts has been selected for the prestigious Travel Award at the 14th Asian Conference on Nutrition (ACN) held in Chengdu, China, from 14th to 17th September, 2023. She is skilled in conducting quantitative and qualitative research following epidemiological research designs, data analysis transcription and data extraction. Currently, she is working at the Center of Excellence for Non-Communicable Disease and Nutrition, a project titled Development and testing of an Upazila-specific model of ''whole-of-government'', and ''whole-of-society'' approaches for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in a sub-district of Bangladesh. She conducted training for the community stakeholders at the Upazila level about the prevention and control of NCDs. Before that, she worked at CNCDN BRAC JPGSPH in the NCD Program named Training and digital care coordination for improved prevention of Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease by primary health care teams in Bangladesh and the Urban Development Program titled Baseline Assessment of the Integrated Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Services Under the Rehabilitation Program for Upliftment of Ultra-Poor Slum Dwellers in Mohammadpur and Mirpur in Dhaka City and Saidpur in Nilphamari District in Bangladesh. In both the projects, she contributed to developing data collection tools, collecting quantitative and qualitative data, performing anthropometric measurements, conducting interviews (IDIs, FGD), writing transcriptions, providing weekly updates, translating and preparing some documents, working with rural and slum people, women and adolescent girls, health providers and community leaders.
