Short Biography

Mr. Shahrear Alam is a public health researcher working at JPGSPH as a Research Assistant with a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Rajshahi University. He is an Anthropologist with a keen interest in public health, governance, policy, development, education, and climate change-related issues. A public health researcher with expertise in qualitative research. He is skilled in conceptualizing and conducting qualitative research, analyzing data, and report writing. He has five years of academic research experience during studying at Rajshahi University and more than one year of professional research experience with multiple organizations. Previously, he worked with SURCH, GIZ Bangladesh, BARCIK, Worldvision Bangladesh, and Rupantor, Barendra Unnayan Prochesta. He worked as a trainer and facilitator with the youth under the Youth Leadership Training Program on preventing violent extremism and raising awareness among youth in 2021 and 2022 with Rupantor funded by GCERF (Global Community Engagement Resilience Fund). His current research project evaluates Bangladesh's health sector’s preparedness to fight against future pandemics: A qualitative exploration of existing scenarios and best practices for future readiness funded by UNFPA. Earlier in 2022, he worked on a project which was an Edline survey named BRAC Community Support Team; Jointly hosted by UNFPA and BRAC. In same year he also evaluated the CRVS (Civil Registration and Vital Statistics) Female barriers in birth and death registration in Bangladesh funded by Vital Strategies.
