Short Biography

Dr. Syeda Mahsina Akter is a public health nutrition researcher with expertise in diet quality, food environments, and public health in Bangladesh. Dr. Akter earned both her Ph.D. in Global Nutrition and Master’s in Nutrition and Health (specializing in Epidemiology and Public Health) from Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands.

Over the past decade, her work has advanced understanding of optimal diets during adolescence, pregnancy, and lactation; breastfeeding practices; complementary feeding; the implementation of both national and international codes on the marketing of breastmilk substitutes; and the quality of nutrition service delivery—contributing to improved policies and programs in Bangladesh.

Prior to that, she was involved with different roles such as; Assistant Director at Bangladesh Breastfeeding Foundation, Research Investigator at icddr,b, External Researcher with Wageningen University’s Global Nutrition Division etc.
